CHANNEL TUNNEL RAIL LINK

ITM Limited and our sister company, Soil Instruments, have been extensively involved in the supply and installation of geotechnical and structural instrumentation to the CTRL main contractors. On several contracts we were amongst the first contractors on site installing sub-surface instrumentation on green and brown field sites on the route of the high-speed rail link, along with the monitoring of existing railway tracks, bridges and nearby structures. As the CTRL tunnels approached St. Pancras we were heavily involved in monitoring of existing rail and underground tunnels where the new running tunnels crossed their paths.

During the construction of the rail link thousands of instruments have been installed, from basic standpipe piezometers to “state of the art” tunnel monitoring systems linked to dedicated monitoring systems.

The project is divided into 2 sections: Section 1, from the Channel Tunnel to Fawkham Junction in north Kent, and Section 2, from Southfleet Junction to St Pancras station in London. For more details of ITM's work in the project, choose one of the following:

CTRL and the Environment

Major construction projects of this kind often get a bad press with environmentalists. In the case of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, however, this is undeserved. For more information about an astonishing and little-known green side of this project, CLICK HERE

Section 2 - Southfleet Junction to St Pancras

ITM Ltd have installed approximately 80% of all the instrumentation on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.

The value of ITM's involvement in the CTRL is over £5 million
